Ori Huchi Kozia

Born in 1987 in Congo. He lives and works in Brazzaville, Congo.

“I’m a break-in artist, I create by tension. I have come to the art not by any conventional or legal means … ”
This is how Ori Huchi Kozia, self-taught videographer, defines himself. After his first work Le Dieu Danseur presented at the Burgundy Video and Dance Festival in France in 2011, he then turned to the video art with Bad Apple which opens to him the doors of La Fémis (Egide scholarship) the prestigious school. He then shot Trauma and Ephemere in Congo. His film The Heart of the Beast (Katamalanasie) is presented at the Pan-African Film Festival in Cannes (France). He created the Titari Film Festival in Brazzaville in 2016 to allow better distribution of African and international films.
From video art, video installation and experimental fiction, Ori Huchi Kozia develops a kind of aesthetic of chaos that invokes strange, surreal, unexpected and dreamlike universes.
« Moudoumango » is a creature born from the mythology of the ancient kingdom of Kongo. In this creation (2016), Ori Hochi Kozia revisits the question of the myth and its archetypes in a universe where fine technology rubs shoulders with misery.
