Beya Gille Gacha

Born in 1990 in Paris, France. She lives and works in Paris.

The history of Beya Gille Gacha fluctuates between theory and practice. A graduate of the Ecole du Louvre (Paris), completed with a training in plastic and applied arts, Beya Gille Gacha exhibited for the first time in Stockholm (Sweden) in 2009 for the exhibition Afrikanska Penslar and created in 2013 Néfe, an association of young artists, for which she organizes exhibitions.
The Cameroonian Grassland from where her mother comes from, has inspired her first creations : passport masks, sculptures and installations are always confronting social issues. From the discovery of Bamileke beaded sculptures, she reclaims the pearls which she uses as the epidermis of her sculptures by mixing classical African and Western codes.
